Tahoe Mountain Bike Patrol
Tahoe Mountain Bike Patrol members aren’t interested in issuing citations. Team In Training has coached over 24,000 cyclists for America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride since 1994, raising over $94 million dollars for the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and improve the quality of life for their patients and families.
For the next 15 or so miles, through Kings Beach to Incline Village and the Nevada state line, hilly Highway 28 plays hide-and-seek with Lake Tahoe; though it isn’t always visible through the houses and fences that line its shores, the lake’s calming presence is never far away — nor long hidden from view.
Leadership Experience: Robin’s first teaching job was as a rock climbing instructor when she was 14. She’s since taught skiing internationally, guided white water rafting for Tahoe White Water, and taught outdoor education programs for high school students with the Gateway Mountain Center.
Only another mile or so down the road, I turned right into Sand Harbor State Park ($1 entry fee for bikes, though they just waved me through), where I had a picnic lunch on an almost deserted beach — one of the joys of an off-season, mid-week bike overnight.
Bike the West & America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride continues to promote the Lake Tahoe Bikeway, in conjunction with the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition Dedicated to enhance bicycling safety, facilities and to promote the building and connecting existing bike lanes around Lake Tahoe and to develop an alternative non-motorized transportation corridor to help protect Lake Tahoe’s environment.visit our website tahoebikepatrol.org
